Very happy that I bought this! July 29, 2010 New home owner (Seattle, WA) I'm 5'7" tall and weight 140 lbs. I bought a large and it fits perfectly. I find it to be comfortable, it doesn't roll or ride up. It smooths out my little muffin tops and my stomach pooch (which no amount of exercise ever seems to get rid of!). I've never had much of a waist-I'm just sort of straight through the torso. This does nip me and and gives me a waist! I wear it all day, sitting and standing, driving, walking, and it's never moved or shifted. I like the idea of wearing it backwards and am going to try that, although the closures in the front have never shown under any clothing. I look better in my clothes, and my size 10 pants are too large in the waist when I wear it - I have to wear size 8 pants when I wear it! So, it really makes a difference. I'm very happy I bought it.
Essential Part of my Wardrobe/Cure for Rolling June 8, 2010 J. Finlinson I wear these flexible corsets every day. I'm a paraplegic and so sit all day long; I've developed a few fixes and adjustments that help control rolling, stay in place more comfortably and overall make it perform better for my situation that could also be useful to others having problems with rolling.
I cut out and replace the very flexible factory metal stays in the front two panels and replace them with sturdier metal stays, which can be found through sewing shops and online corsetry sites. I've had better success choosing stays a bit shorter length, like 10" or 11" if the original length is 12" (some older versions are shorter), and then fold over and stitch the leftover fabric to cover the edge of the stay and create an extra cushion for the skin along the bra-line. You could also split the leftover fabric and sew a little cushion roll along the bottom, too, since that can be an irritant also. It can take a little time to get used to, and if you're very active you might not find this a worthwhile cure, but could be worth a try if you've already bought the garment.
I still have to pull it down often and kind of readjust the alignment under my clothes, but over all I've found this to be the most comfortable and useful garment to modify this way, and it's easily the most essential element of my daily dress. It helps provide the confidence to wear stylish, better-fitting clothes, and gives me an easy alternative to medical-style binders and other ugly undergarments that can ruin an attractive outfit and sexy attitude.
I was a bit worried to see that the Maidenform website no longer offers these Flexess Waistnippers with a front hook/eye closure, only a pullover type; I hope that they will continue producing this particular style #6868 - I will raise a ruckus if they decide to let it go!
Mediocre price for a cheap product June 4, 2010 Susan M. Segawa (Brooklyn, NY) I've purchased this product because I purchased a large size and it wasn't tight enough for me. I read some of the reviewers said this product helped their tummy to go back to their pre-pregnancy state....But that wasn't the case with me.
Because this product comes with only one size if your tummy does shrink, you have to purchase a smaller size. And if your size is in between the size, this product do not shape your tummy. I am in between large and medium and when I wear the medium, this thing rides up and scrunches all my tummy fats to the front as it pinches my side, then it folds in between my upper and lower tummy to make me look fat. I'm sorry, but I thought the purpose of wearing this product was to make me look slimmer.
Do not get this product if you know your tummy size will shrink dramatically. Only because you may be forced to purchase a smaller size that may not even fit right for you.
Painful but works April 16, 2010 A. Jordan (Georgia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this shaper to use after I had a baby. I was tired of my flabby tummy and wanted something to control it until I can get back into shape.
Pros:
- It definitely works and controls the "muffin top."
- It's not hot and doesn't look too bad to wear.
- The hooks are easy to fasten and stay hooked.
Cons:
- The stays dig into my breasts which is very painful as a nursing mom. I am 5' tall so maybe it will fit a taller person better.
- The ribbed design shows through tighter shirts, especially the front where the hooks are. Sometimes I turn it around backwards so it doesn't show through my shirt.
This is definitely not something I'd want to wear every day. I wish I had gone with a more flexible shapewear that does not have stays.
